Material Process at DLZ
Material Control & Validation
DLZ exercise comprehensive technical governance over material processing, validation, and product performance verification. Our integrated and systematically deployed Quality Management System controls the entire manufacturing lifecycle, from supplier qualification and incoming material inspection to in-process statistical control, nonconformance management, corrective and preventive actions and full product traceability.
All operational procedures are standardized, documented, and continuously optimized in alignment with the requirements of International Organization for Standardization ISO 9001 and IATF 16949, ensuring robust risk management, process consistency, and full compliance with global automotive quality standards.
Steel Sheet & Stamping
DLZ utilizes advanced stamping technology to form high-strength steel sheets into complex geometries required for suspension control arms, brackets, and steering columns. Our stamping processes ensure precise dimensional tolerances and structural integrity.

We employ progressive dies and transfer presses, combined with in-house material testing to verify tensile strength and fatigue resistance, ensuring that every stamped component can withstand the dynamic stresses of vehicle operation.

Aluminium Forging
To meet the increasing demand for lightweight yet high-strength steering and suspension control arms, DLZ has developed advanced expertise in precision aluminium forging. Utilizing high-grade aluminium alloys, we employs a controlled closed-die forging process to manufacture critical components such as knuckles and control arms with optimized grain flow orientation and enhanced mechanical integrity.

The forging process refines the metallurgical structure, significantly improving strength-to-weight ratio, fatigue resistance, and structural reliability while maintaining excellent corrosion performance. Post-forging operations include precision machining and strict dimensional verification, followed by controlled T6 heat treatment to achieve required hardness and tensile properties. All forged components undergo comprehensive non-destructive testing (NDT), including crack detection and structural integrity evaluation, ensuring consistent performance in safety-critical steering and suspension applications under demanding operational conditions.

Steel Forging
For heavy-duty and high-load applications including suspension arms, ball joints, and steering tie rod ends DLZ utilizes advanced steel forging processes to ensure superior structural performance and durability. Automotive-grade medium alloy steels are forged under controlled high-pressure conditions to produce dense, high-integrity components capable of withstanding extreme mechanical stress.

The forging process optimizes grain flow and refines the microstructure, significantly enhancing impact resistance, tensile strength, and fatigue life. DLZ selectively applies precision forging to critical components such as housings and ball pins, where structural reliability and load-bearing capacity are paramount. Each production batch is subjected to rigorous metallurgical analysis, microstructure evaluation, and hardness testing to verify material properties and process consistency in compliant with IATF 16949 standards.

Casting
DLZ integrates precision casting technologies to manufacture complex steering and suspension components requiring high structural integrity and design flexibility. Utilizing ductile iron and aluminium alloys for critical structural housings, such as control arms, DLZ ensures excellent dimensional stability, optimized load distribution, and consistent material performance. Advanced computer-aided engineering (CAE) and computer-aided design (CAD) systems are applied during the development phase to simulate mold flow, solidification behavior, and thermal distribution.

Through digital process optimization, potential defects are effectively minimized, ensuring uniform mechanical properties and metallurgical consistency throughout the component. Combined with strict process control and post-casting inspection, DLZ’s casting operations deliver high-precision components that meet the demanding performance and safety requirements of modern steering and suspension systems.
